Self

Not every pattern lives only between people. Some begin to shape the way we interpret ourselves, trust our instincts, make decisions, respond to emotion, and understand who we are.

Self trust, identity, confidence, approval seeking, second guessing, inner dialogue, and emotional habits can all develop recognizable patterns over time.

Sometimes the pattern changes how you see yourself.
A Note From Rosie

When I think about the impact of narcissism, I always come back to the self. Before someone can even name what is happening around them, they may already be carrying the weight of confusion, self doubt, guilt, fear, or shame.

Narcissistic patterns can disconnect a person from their instincts, their confidence, and even their sense of identity. I know how painful it can be to look back and wonder how much of yourself was silenced just to survive.

The Hidden Pattern Project was created with that in mind. Not just to explore how narcissism shows up in relationships, families, workplaces, and communities, but to bring the focus back to the person at the center of it all. Healing begins when we start recognizing the patterns, trusting ourselves again, and remembering who we were before we were taught to shrink.

What Can Show Up Here

Internal patterns can become familiar without being obvious.

The way we relate to ourselves is shaped over time. Experiences, relationships, expectations, criticism, validation, belonging, and uncertainty can all influence the patterns we carry inward.

These patterns are not always visible from the outside. They may appear in the way someone interprets a situation, makes a decision, receives feedback, or sees their own worth.

01
Self Trust
Confidence in your own perception, judgment, memory, instincts, and decisions can be strengthened or weakened through repeated experiences.
02
Inner Dialogue
The way someone speaks to themselves can develop recognizable patterns around criticism, doubt, reassurance, blame, comparison, or compassion.
03
Identity
Roles, relationships, expectations, belonging, approval, and major life experiences can influence how someone understands who they are and what feels authentic.
04
Approval
External validation can become part of a pattern around decisions, confidence, belonging, achievement, or whether something feels acceptable without someone else confirming it.
05
Second Guessing
Repeatedly revisiting choices, interpretations, conversations, or reactions can become familiar when certainty has been difficult to trust.
06
Self Perception
Repeated messages about worth, ability, personality, appearance, emotion, or behavior can influence the story someone gradually learns to tell about themselves.
Sometimes another person’s voice becomes part of your inner dialogue.

Repeated criticism, dismissal, comparison, praise, pressure, or doubt can continue shaping self perception long after the original moment has passed.

What once came from someone else may eventually sound like an internal expectation, a familiar hesitation, or a belief about what you are allowed to need, feel, say, or become.

That is one way an external pattern can gradually become an internal one.

Something to Notice

Self doubt is not always a personality trait.

Confidence and certainty can change depending on experience, environment, relationships, stress, and the messages someone has repeatedly received.

What looks like indecision, overthinking, or hesitation may sometimes be connected to a longer pattern of learning to question your own perception.

Familiar thoughts can have a history too.
What This Can Look Like

Internal patterns can show up in small, ordinary moments.

The goal here is recognition, not resolution.

They may appear through repeated second guessing, apologizing automatically, minimizing an accomplishment, needing reassurance before making a decision, questioning whether a reaction was reasonable, or assuming someone else must understand the situation better.

None of those moments alone defines how someone feels about themselves. Over time, repetition can make the internal pattern easier to recognize.

Notice the voice. Notice where it may have come from.

Some patterns are easiest to see once you notice the way they changed your inner voice.

Recognition does not require having every answer. Sometimes simply realizing that a familiar thought, doubt, or response has a pattern behind it can change the way you see it.
